- The first element of a successful job match is the vocational profiling or "getting to know you" process. Here we identify the aspirations, personality, skills, former experiences and job interests of the job seekers.
- AES works with local employers to address their recruitment needs and support them with disability awareness within their
organizations.
- Once we secure employer commitment, the job analysis takes place. This checks out any assumptions made in the job description and thoroughly investigates the job on offer so that we can describe all its aspects and those of the work place, e.g. health and safety
- When the individual starts work, on the job support is offered to the individual and/ or employer. The levels, amount and forms of support to be provided will depend upon the individual’s needs, abilities and employment situation.
Once you are employed we can continue to help you and your employer with:
- The orientation and training process
- Information on job adjustments
- Job coaching
- On-going support and improving your skills
Our guiding principles are:
- To serve adults with need for supported employment who can benefit from current program models.
- Services are determined by consumer (residential, family, friends) demand and resource (dollars, space, staff expertise) availability.
- Emphasize the development of maximum independence for each supported worker.
- Utilize multiple models to ensure services which match or suit individual worker needs.
- Support individual dignity and respect the rights of its supported workers, within the context of their unique skills and abilities, to have access to equal opportunities in the community work setting.
- Utilize a holistic approach, viewing supported workers as individuals and valued members of the community. Annual Vocational Evaluation Reports (AVERS) seek and utilize community/ family cooperation in individual integration. AVER's are revised annually.
- Respect the right of the supported worker to have a voice in his/her own training, the opportunity of choice and self-determination, to the best of the agency's ability
